The DFCI Enterprise Data Warehouse Senior ETL Developer is a critical member of the Informatics & Analytics team supporting the implementation and on-going development and operations of the enterprise data warehouse (EDW) in support of the overall DFCI mission to improve quality and manage healthcare expense trends.?? This is a hands-on position that requires a technical and functional understanding of healthcare analytics and data warehouse architecture.?? Responsibilities include analyzing business requirements, and designing, developing, and unit testing integration solutions to meet customer needs. This individual works on problems of moderate to large scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
The role is expected to understand and apply best practices and provide expertise in acquiring data from source systems to build database analytic content.?? As such, it is expected that the individual will understand the full lifecycle of data warehousing and business intelligence projects. The individual in this position will interact with directors, leads, architects, consultants, business analysts, co-developers and business/clinical users. The successful candidate will be an experienced lead developer with extensive enterprise background using MS SQL Server. The Senior ETL Developer will be required to identify business requirements, develop data models, perform data analysis, write advanced SQL queries and triggers, design and code complex stored procedures, and maintain and performance tune existing databases.
Designs, builds and maintains data warehouse solutions to support Reporting and Analytics projects
Provides expertise and architectural leadership in the areas of Data Governance and Master Data Management
Work with end users, business analysts, technical staff, and other project team members to plan, design, develop, implement, and enhance application processes and overall data and process flow and user interface applications
Works with teams to integrate data across clinical, administrative, and financial source systems including the management of critical master data
Integrates source system data into the EDW, including initial development of extraction/integration routines
Self-starter with a strong desire to learn and apply the latest technologies related to database solutions
Participate in the design, development and implementation of the Health Catalyst Platform supporting Clinical and Research Analytics
Create Source Marts for different Sources using the Source Mart Designer Tool
Use the IDEA platform to build and deploy custom web applications to collect it
Use the EDW Console (part of the Health Catalyst family of products) to configure batches, execute ETL tasks and monitor health of the EDW
Create and execute test plans using end-user success criteria as a guide
Supports on-going production operations and maintenance of current and legacy systems.
Applies design principals and architectural standards, including those that support security and auditing requirements
Develops strong working relationships with key project team members and customers to ensure activities are aligned with business objectives
Supports troubleshooting and problem resolution activities as needed, including acting as an escalation point for technical and process issues
Perform Peer document reviews and code reviews to ensure adherence to user requirements as well as established standards and conventions.
Evaluate and recommend new tools and methodologies to assist in meeting business requirements through data integration.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Master???s Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, financial/operating systems data architecture, or a related technical field
Minimum 6 years experience in data warehouse architecture, design, development and data integration
8+ years of related professional experience including 6+ years in data warehousing development in large reporting environment(s)
6+ years of experience programming in T-SQL
Must have a strong understanding of Kimball approach to data warehousing using denormalized star schemas and snowflakes.
A strong understanding of Data Architecture, ETL Architecture, advanced SQL concepts and Data warehousing tools is required.
Development experience with ETL tools, such as Microsoft SSIS , Informatica
Experience working with Epic and Peoplesoft
Experience maintaining complex database applications, ability to write, understand, and tune complex SQL, T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, views and triggers
Rewrite and correct existing inefficient or poorly performing queries and stored procedures/T-SQL to run more efficiently and to ensure stronger performance
Experience working with relational databases including SQL Server, Oracle
Hands on experience performance tuning database applications including indexing, with ability to interpret execution plans
Strong understanding of SQL Server security, performance monitoring and optimizing
Experience with medical/clinical data exchange standards, such as FHIR and HL7
Prior experience working with healthcare financial and revenue cycle systems is strongly preferred
Knowledge or experience with any of visualization tools, such as Tableau, Microstrategy is helpful
