Position
Ohlone College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for part-time teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as-needed basis and are on-going recruitments.
As staffing needs arise, the Division Dean will review the part-time faculty pool and contact applicants for interviews. There are times that part-time faculty are needed to fill last minute vacancies; therefore, the department is better able to communicate their teaching needs at the time of interviews.
Applicants must meet the minimum academic qualifications listed in order to be considered for the pool of qualified candidates. Applicants that meet the minimum qualifications are not automatically accepted to teach at Ohlone.
The Adjunct Librarian provides reference service and instruction on the use of print and electronic information resources to students, faculty, staff and the community. The Adjunct Librarian assignment may include day, evening, and/or weekend assignments, and may be in-person, online, or hybrid.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides reference assistance, bibliographic and research instruction, and assistance in the use of computers to students and staff as needed.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience providing effective reference service to lower-division college students, including familiarity with standard reference tools in print, web, and electronic periodical databases. Familiarity with social media sites and their application in library environments.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's in Library Science, Library and Information Science;
OR
the equivalent;
AND
Commitment to community college goals/objectives of being an equity-based and anti-racist institution, and providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests;
AND
Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
Starting Salary Range Hourly Lecture: $85.18-$115.70; Hourly Lab: $68.69-$93.31 DOE
