The AssistantDean of Nursing serves as a member of the Dean's leadership teamand provides administrator support to the Dean's role. To provide the Assistant Dean with a strongfoundation, the person in thisposition will be mentored in the role fortheir first semesters. Thiscandidate is responsible for maintaining a current unencumbered nursing licensein Massachusetts. The Assistant Dean of Nursing is the nurse administrator, servingas director of the nursing programs and is responsible for the management and delivery of the Practical Nursing andAssociate Degree Nursing programs.The Assistant Dean of Nursing is responsible to students, faculty, andCollege administration for the safe and lawful operations of the nursing programs, with primary responsibility for planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of program activities. This individual has authority and responsibility for the development and administration of the nursing programswith faculty input. Thisindividual facilitates operational efficiency byensuring compliance with all state and federal regulatoryrequirements, aswell as national accrediting agency standards and criteria,when applicable. Thisessential role encompasses collaborating with the faculty, supportstaff, clinicalcompliance coordinator, datacoordinator, Dean of Health Sciences and college administrators toensure continuous program improvement. The ideal candidate will exhibit initiative, positivity, and teamwork inaccomplishing the responsibilities of the position. This individual will proactively lead nursingeducation at the College into a future that collaborates with high schools,four-year academic institutions and other health care partners to broaden theopportunities for those seeking a career in nursing. They will develop additional nursing bridge/transition programs and support the College'sstrategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide administrative oversight for the Nursing Department;
- Serve as the Nurse Administrator/Administrator of Record in accordance with the Board of Registration inNursing (BORN) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) requirements;
- Assure compliance ofeach program with the rules and regulations of related licensing, accreditingand/or regulatory agencies; formulate and submit reports for national, andstate licensing, accrediting, and/or regulatory agencies;
- Maintain files andrecords in accordance with all applicable regulations and College policies;assure programs meet the standards of BORN and ACEN with input from faculty;
- Responsible for annualbudgets for both Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing Programs;
- Participate in the governance of the College,serving on various College committees to offer administrative and academic leadership;
- Provide direction for a holistic competency-basedcurriculum, instructional, and/or program development and implementation;evaluate results and make appropriate recommendations for modificationsconsistent with contemporary evidence-based practice;
- Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals,objectives, policies, and services that are consistent with the Collegemission/philosophy and strategic plan; coordinate program reviews, discussprogram outcomes in collaboration with appropriate faculty;
- Manage or participate in a variety ofadministrative, board, and other meetings; conduct department meetings to maintaina systematic flow of information;
- In collaboration withcurrent faculty,orient and mentor newfull- and part-time faculty and staff to their areas of responsibility;
- Support faculty insearches for full-time and part-time faculty positions;
- Support faculty in using multiple forms of delivery and pedagogy, inclusive of distance technologies and simulation to improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes;
- Direct and assist in the preparation and assignmentof class schedules and teaching assignments that promote optimal benefit to theprogram;
- Facilitate and monitor faculty workload andassignments;
- In collaboration withthe Clinical Compliance Officer, secure and maintain the clinical placements forstudents in both programs using Centralized Clinical Placement (CCP)website and attend CCPmeetings;
- Facilitate cooperative working relationships withthe clinical placement facilities and establish innovative partnerships;
Conduct clinical visitations annually; - In coordination with the ClinicalCompliance Officer and Program Chairs, monitor/address student clearanceprocess issues;
- Work to resolve student issues in accordance with applicable laws and established program, institutional and Commonwealth of Massachusetts policies and procedures;
- Promote respectful environments, cultural diversity and institutional civility;Collaborate with the faculty andDean to prepare grant proposals and identify workforce development opportunities;
- In collaboration withthe Office of Admissions and the Program Chairs, overseethe selection, admission, and progression of students in the programs;coordinate and maintain records on student progress and outcomes;
- Assist the Dean of Health Sciences in the role of CampusAdministrator;
- Collaborate with other health career programs that have career pathways leadingto nursing;
- Contribute meaningfully to Division- andCollege-wide prospective student outreach events that promote awareness of andenrollment in nursing programs;
- Serve on the Advisory Board of at least two outside health care agenciesto foster nursing collaboration opportunities, clinical partnerships, grantinitiatives;
- Participate in professional organizations andmaintain an understanding and working knowledge of current ideas, research, andpractices related to their respective programs.

Required Qualifications:
- Hold a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license in good standing or the ability to acquire, if hired;
- Possess a minimum of five years full-time nursing experience, or its equivalent, within the last eight years, with at least three years' experience in academic and nursing administration;
- Maintain expertise appropriate to administrative responsibilities;
- Nursing leadership experience including a minimum of two years in the role of Director of Nursing or another administrative position with oversight of Nursing programs;
- An earned master's degree in Nursing required, Ph.D. in Nursing or related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Demonstrated commitment to working with under served students;
- Experience in regulatory writing (BORN, ACEN, DPH, NECHE, etc.) with successful completion of a report, follow-up report and/or site visit;

- Familiar with concept-based curriculums or other innovative curriculum models;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with collective bargaining agreements;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems;
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written expression;
- Experience with alternative pedagogies such as service-learning, learning communities, distance and hybrid learning and simulation;
- Demonstrated knowledge of community college principles, practices and procedures;
- Demonstrated administrative and budget experience;
- A team builder who can unite a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $117,000.00 - 122,000.00 Annual Salary
