T-Mobile has an exciting opportunity for an experienced regulatory attorney on the Legal Department’s Product Compliance Legal Team, supporting the company’s Trade, Import and Export programs. This attorney will:
Work closely with the company’s business and support teams to ensure our business complies with federal import and export regulations and international sanctions
Build comprehensive compliance programs to further T-Mobile’s growing international vendor and customer partnerships
Analyze a wide variety of federal laws and regulations to provide practical, usable and business-focused legal advice
Analyze and support internal policies and processes to ensure ongoing compliance; and
Help manage federal filings and inquiries regarding our import and export programs.
What you’ll do in your role
The Senior Corporate Counsel position on the Product Compliance team will have day-to-day responsibilities for providing legal guidance on all aspects of Trade and Export compliance, including:
Providing practical legal guidance to ensure our international transactions, communications and relationships comply with applicable laws, regulations and industry practices
Partner with business teams to design and implement company-wide policies and controls for T-Mobile’s supply chain, international shipments and relationships with foreign persons and entities
Leading complex, fast-moving projects and being proactive in delivering actionable guidance and driving creative, business-focused solutions
Evaluating and advising on risks related to Trade and Export regulations and international sanctions
Training members of the Legal Department, business units and other support teams on federal import and export requirements and internal procedures
Monitoring changes to federal laws and sanctions, and design internal processes meet evolving compliance obligations
Coordinating with T-Mobile’s Government Affairs Team on proposed changes or modifications of laws and regulations
Assisting with compliance system evaluations and audits; and
Communicating legal advice to business clients in a simple, usable, practical and un-legalistic way.
The experience you’ll bring
A law degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice law in at least one state
Minimum 7+ years of relevant legal experience with regulatory compliance and/or Trade and Export laws and regulations
The ability to think strategically and advance creative, practical solutions with a demonstrated ability to intelligently manage business and legal risks;
Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills and the ability to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
Customer-oriented interpersonal skills, excellent business judgment, personal initiative, and a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment; and
Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, as well as the aptitude for, and a strong motivation to develop, a deep and broad knowledge of the wireless telecommunications industry.
