Under the general direction of the School of Law Assistant Dean for Student Services and in coordination with the Office of Admissions, the LL.M. in American Law for Foreign Lawyers Program Director, and the Two-Year J.D. Program Director, the primary role of the Assistant Director for International Students at the School of Law is to support the School of Laws international student population in recruitment, admissions, transition to the U.S. and law school, and academic and other advising, with particular focus on students in the LL.M. in American Law for Foreign Lawyers degree program and the Two-Year J.D. for Foreign Lawyers degree program.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment
· Recruitment of International LL.M., J.D., and Two-Year J.D. students
· Ability to travel nationally and internationally, and engage in other activities to recruit prospective international students
· Build relationships with national and international faculty, schools, government agencies, and other organizations to recruit prospective students
Admissions
· Oversee all admissions processes for international LL.M. students
· Serve on the LL.M. admissions committee
· Use specialized knowledge of foreign educational institutions and practices to evaluate international applicants credentials from a wide variety of countries
· Assist the SLU LAW Admissions Office with international J.D. applicants
Transition to Law School
· Assist all international students with all aspects of their transition to the United States, St. Louis, and SLU LAW, including immigration matters, housing recommendations, and resources for living in the United States
· Assist in creating a comprehensive orientation program for international students to provide a smooth transition to law school
Academic and Other Advising
· Serve as primary advisor and point person for all international students throughout their time at SLU LAW
· Assist in advising international students on academic matters and course registration
· Assist in advising international students regarding the requirements for the bar exam and bar application process
· Assist in advising international students with career development matters, including Optional Practical Training (OPT)
· Be a resource, liaison, and educator for all SLU LAW students, staff, and faculty in matters relating to international student experiences
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
· Knowledge of law school recruitment and admissions policies and procedures; international enrollment planning, demographics, recruitment, marketing strategies, and best practices
· Ability to manage databases and correspondence, digital marketing campaigns, and other recruitment initiatives to achieve institutional enrollment goals, tracking campaign/initiative metrics, and recommend and implement strategies for optimizing performance
· Ability to compile and present data on outcomes, recruitment initiative efficacy, quality indicators, etc. as requested
· Knowledge of legal education and the legal profession in and outside of the United States
· Knowledge of bar qualification requirements in New York and other U.S. jurisdictions
· Ability to operate various software applications and social media
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal/human relations skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A J.D., relevant LL.M., or other first degree in law that is bar-qualifying, is required
Candidates should have law practice experience or experience in international law school admissions or student affairs (or both), whether in the United States or internationally. Please include a cover letter with your application to be considered for the role.
