The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Bursar in our Finance Office. The Assistant Bursar is responsible for interrogating and auditing all student accounts daily for billing charges and award/ miscellaneous funding errors, owed balances, and negative balance irregularities. The Assistant Bursar ensures that credit and non-credit course actions are in compliance with student accounts receivable charges
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Works closely with the college staff to determine the validity and accuracy of student account adjustments based on student/college funding sponsorships from state, federal and local agencies;
Works with Accounts Payable to process warrants, as needed;
Communicates all account changes with students;
Works closely with affiliate offices to ensure that charges are processed timely;
Audits student accounts for missing information and creates correspondence for confidential mailings to obtain required information for compliance with regulations;
Assists the Bursar with processing 1098-Ts for student accounts and federal transmissions. Assists students with questions regarding their 1098-Ts;
Keeps up to date on new yearly regulations and requirements;
Works with payor sources to make any necessary changes to student payment plans to ensure student receives timely credits;
Reviews student accounts to place holds on unpaid accounts each semester and assigns delinquent accounts to college collection agencies;
Other duties as related to this job description and as assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications:

Associate degree from an accredited college with three (3) years accounts receivable, collections or business office related experience
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Organizational and time management skills
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Strong attention to detail
Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college
