The transfer credit specialist, academic services is responsible for accurately completing detailed unofficial and official evaluations of transfer credits including standardized test credit such as military credit and AP and IB exams for potential new and returning students.

Job Responsibilities and Execution
Maintains familiarity with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations and privacy laws governing higher education
Serves as primary expert for all issues and questions related to the interpretation and application of transfer credit evaluation policies and procedures
Responsible for the creation, coordination, implementation, and maintenance of all aspects relevant to the evaluation of transfer credit
Collaborates with enrollment counselors, college departments, advisors, and academic services in determining the ability of credits to transfer to meet general education and program requirements
Collects and maintains data related to volume, efficiency, and productivity
Collaborates with relevant stakeholders and stays current on best practices in the sector to recommend and implement process improvements as needed
Completes unofficial and official transcript evaluations
Assists returning students with assessing how previous credits will apply to the current academic programs
Independently resolves student issues and complaints
Carries out major assignments including establishing new transfer guides, updating existing transfer guides, data cleanup and validation, etc.

Provides excellent customer service via email and phone, answering questions regarding Academic Services procedures
Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration
Answers questions via telephone or email, or by assisting walk-ins (if applicable)
Resolves issues within an efficient timeframe
Job may require other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.
Bachelor’s degree;
Familiarity with FERPA regulations and privacy laws governing higher education
Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the field of higher education preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – May be representative, but not all inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this job competently.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Highly organized and detail oriented
Ability to use good judgment and think critically
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
