Job Description:
The Executive Director of the Center for Population Health and Equity will manage and champion the development and oversee all activities within KCU's transformational, interprofessional center. The Executive Director will lead the integration of KCU's academic, research, clinical service and community outreach programs to bring a coordinated and interdisciplinary approach to improve population health and health equity. The Executive Director will assist in the development of the Center's strategic mission, working collaboratively across the University to ensure interprofessional alignment and coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inventories current KCU academic, research, clinical service and community outreach activities that address population health and health equity
- Interface with administrative leadership and have the authority to direct these efforts
- Provide strategic vision and direction to the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives to improve the organization's population health and equity
- Serves as a strategist, leader, and change agent in driving system-level transformation for population health and health equity
- Implements evidence-based outreach and awareness programs, communication strategies, and health education efforts to enhance population health and equity
- Partners with operational leaders to conduct evidence-based improvement efforts that support population health and health equity
- Identifies trends and makes recommendations or changes to existing programs to reflect organizational needs
- Regularly monitors and reports annually on the population health and health outcomes of our regional rural and urban constituencies
- Oversees the business plan development for the Center for Population Health and Health Equity
- Provides consultation to executive leadership, management, faculty, and staff regarding workplace health and wellness matters
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
Other and Supportive Functions:
- Maintains professional relationships with public health, community health, and private health care organizations
- Maintains awareness of federal and state-imposed laws and regulations relevant to population health and equity
- Stays abreast of trends and emerging strategic opportunities in the areas of population health, health equity and health outcomes and health-related technological advancements
- Pursues population health research efforts where appropriate
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility through effective budget management
- Other administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparing documentation)
- Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
- Actively participate in team and University meetings
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in health professions (MD/DO, DMD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, or equivalent)
- Applicable clinical licensure in Missouri preferred
- Minimum of 5 years clinical practice experience preferred
- Public health or population health experience a plus
- Evidence of commitment to improving population health and health equity as demonstrated by work experience, research, thought leadership, and/or publications
- Strong knowledge of workplace healthcare issues, and a firm grasp of federal and state laws and regulations that govern workplace health and wellness matters
- Strong passion for population health and health equity and understanding of the latest evidence-based research to the area
- Requires substantial administrative and program-building experience; and demonstrated leadership as an innovator, convener, ambassador, collaborator, partner and catalyst in mobilizing leaders from various institutional and community sectors around wellness goals
- Demonstrates sensitivity to a wide range of disciplines, interests and constituencies represented at KCU and a deep commitment to population health and equity as part of its public mission
- Has the ability to design bold, creative and innovative initiatives and the vision, charisma and collaborative acumen to command the respect and involvement of colleagues and community members to improve population health and health outcomes
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor and coach associates to continuously improve their performance and achieve positive outcomes for themselves, as well as for the programs they serve.
- Record of accomplishment leading and motivating staff, encouraging accountability, and promoting adaptation, collaboration, and creativity
- A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to work effectively and harmoniously with associates at all levels of the organization
- Experience and sensitivity in working with an ethnically, socio-economically, and socially diverse workforce
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other office technologies that support office efficiency
Physical Requirements:
- Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead
- Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
- Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
- Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions
- Ability to travel throughout the area to meet with various constituencies and community partners
