The Recruitment and Engagement Specialist is part of a highly collaborative team and will work closely with the Director of Student Services and Graduate Program Manager to develop and implement strategic recruitment plans to grow applications and enrollment for new undergraduate and graduate students at Ohio States John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Additionally, the Recruitment and Engagement Specialist will administer college programs focused on civic engagement, leadership, and student belonging.
The dynamic professional in this position will administer programs and initiatives aiming to increase historically underrepresented groups at the Glenn College; implements the development of a comprehensive diversity recruiting strategy which includes hosting events, engaging in university-wide efforts and developing an on-going communication plan.
Responsibilities also include presenting on-campus and virtual academic overviews to prospective students and their families; represents the Glenn College at University Admissions sponsored events, table fairs on and off-campus; participates in in-state and out-of-state travels programs; conducts class visits to recruit for graduate programs, implements high school and college outreach initiatives, including summer outreach programs; provides front-line communication via phones and email to prospective undergraduate and graduate students.
Other roles and responsibilities:
Plans and implements recruitment efforts for prospective undergraduate students at both the university and college levels, including open houses, table fairs, individual visits, virtual meetings, and other prospective student events.
Cultivates relationships with recruitment stakeholders including high school guidance counselors, teachers, and university recruitment staff in order to build pipelines to high school student populations. Leads recruitment for high school programs including High School Internship Program and Democracy Camp.
Works with prospective students with a focus on expanding outreach to and recruitment of students with diverse identities and perspectives
Plans and implements recruitment efforts for prospective graduate students including graduate school fairs, individual visits, and virtual and in-person information sessions. Travels to other colleges to recruit for graduate programs.
Cultivates relationships with recruitment stakeholders including undergraduate faculty and career advisors in order to build pipelines to undergraduate student populations Corresponds with prospective students. Works with prospective students with a focus on expanding outreach to and recruitment of students with diverse identities and perspectives
Oversees recruitment, admissions and programmatic activities for the John Glenn Learning Community (LC). Serves as a resource for LC students throughout the school year and teaches Public Affairs 2160: Exploring Public Affairs annually.
Coordinates with the Office of Residence Life to deliver a slate of student programs related to policy, leadership, and service.
Oversees recruitment and management of Glenn College STEP cohort annually.
Administers Democracy Camp and other civic engagement activities as appropriate.
Manages efforts aimed at recruiting existing Ohio State students into Glenn College programs including second majors, minors, graduate minors, certificates, and internship programs.
Collaborates with Advancement team to generate regular communication to students including social media content, email newsletters, and targeted campaigns to potential students.
Additional Information: This position is primarily an in-person role with some opportunities for remote and hybrid work. It may also require occasional local and out-of-state travel, and working evenings and weekends, as necessary.

Range: $18.61 to $24.81
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required 2-4 years; experience in college recruitment, advising, student engagement, and/or admissions.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree or equivalent combination of experience and education; experience in higher education outreach, recruitment, diversity, equity & inclusion, student services; knowledge of higher education administration, recruitment and admissions trends, practices and principles (particularly diversity and inclusion and trends in public administration education); excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including writing and public speaking.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; presenting in-person and virtually to groups of all sizes; effective organizational skills; ability to work with faculty, staff, students, and external organizations of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds; demonstrates ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain confidentiality; ability to function in a team-based environment.
Experience in MS Office including Word, Excel and Powerpoint, proficient with Qualtrics, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom; demonstrated commitment to public service and the values of the Glenn College.
