OSU Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy is a research and education center in the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Its unique interdisciplinary mission is to develop the future workforce and technologies that support public officials strategic decision-making in national security and resilience.
The centers Senior Student Program Specialist will support the Director in delivering the curricular and co-curricular student experiences that recruit students to the colleges and centers programs and promote students development and connection to public sector employers.
This position will involve connecting with students on a regular basis. While organizing and managing student programming, the Assistant Director will need to create compelling value propositions for students, be able to accurately depict the activities, maintain distribution channels, and continue to engage with students to understand what they need.
In addition to student interaction, the individual in this position will also manage and develop the centers corporate membership. This includes maintaining current relationships and contracts, continued communication to ensure needs are being met, and exploring new options for corporate members to fund center programming. Organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, will be vital to this role.
Coordinating the centers courses and the administrative aspects of the undergraduate Science and Engineering in the Public Interest minor, which the center stewards for the college. Includes managing online learning platform content, advising students, managing activities related to course delivery, and experience evaluation. Managing co-curricular projects including the centers Student Communities of Practice and Engagement. Includes developing and delivering programming, event management, tracking participation, project evaluation. Recruiting and retaining students in the centers curricular and co-curricular programs and overseeing related marketing communication. Includes communication planning and execution, coaching, and community-building. Developing and sustaining corporate sponsors for the centers capstone innovation challenges and membership in centers co-curricular Student Communities of Practice and Engagement (SCOPEs). Involves marketing communication, business development, project evaluation.
SALARY RANGE: $49,800 - $66,400
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to enjoy and function in a fast-paced, highly dynamic work environment, experience fostering human development in a higher education setting, experience coaching, mentoring, training, and community-building. Experience in marketing communications in external-facing roles, representing organization to stakeholders. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Adept team-player. Skill interfacing with students with varying degrees of development and maturity, ability to manage multiple, simultaneous projects, flexibility in working environments, experience in higher education, experience with OSU systems and programs, willingness to try new things and adapt quickly, experience working in a diverse environment
