GENERAL PURPOSE
The Senior St. Thomas Aquinas Counselor is responsible for providing holistic support to St. Thomas Aquinas Program population. The Senior Counselor works collaboratively with all constituencies at the university to develop effective interventions, strategies and support curriculum for a large number of diverse students. The Senior Counselor also serves as the primary supervisor and contact for the St. Thomas Aquinas Peer Mentors Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate the Freshman Success Group Seminar (STA 0900 and 0910) for St. Thomas Aquinas Program students.
Provide outreach to students. Meet individually with program students and families to discuss academic concerns, issues and successes.
Use the latest technology and development theory to assess, develop and update programmatic curriculum, outreach initiatives and student engagement strategies.
Act as the academic advisor for all Undeclared STAP students. Serve as a secondary advisor for all STAP students.
Provide oversight to STAP Mentor population both in person and using digital formats.
Develop, plan, assess, facilitate and update curriculum and interventions for STAP Probation course.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree
3 to 5 years of work-related experience
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
