Senior Special Programs Coordinator - Student Engagement
MCCC Unit Professional position: MCCC Unit Professional Position, Grade 5
Campus Location: Danvers, 4 days on site, 1 day remote (telework is subject to change based on the needs of the department and/or College).
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
SALARY:Anticipated starting salary is $59,244.00 - $64,111.00. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement. Full time benefited employees at North Shore Community College are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package offered through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Senior Special Programs Coordinator of Student Engagement will be a student centered, enthusiastic, and creative professional who will develop, implement, and assess educationally purposeful student engagement programs and services focused on matriculation and retention, leadership development, and mentor programming. The incumbent will recruit, advise, and direct students as well as supervise, coordinate, and assess large-scale student learning and development experiences. By partnering with internal and external constituents, the incumbent will plan, coordinate and implement programs that provide an equitable educational experience for the diverse learners attending the College
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and guidance to student government and recognized clubs and organizations on policy review and formulation related to the delivery of student activity programs and services.
Serve as advisor to Student Government Association and other clubs and organizations as needed with the goal of enhancing the student leadership and involvement at North Shore Community College.
Establish and maintain effective partnerships with student leaders and student club and organization advisors to ensure that the appropriate support services, programs, and training is in place for student clubs/organizations and advisors.
Manage the College's student leadership development programming which is currently, The National Society for Leadership and Success.
Manage and oversee the Presidential Scholars Program.
With direction from the Director of Student Engagement, ensure a student learning and development approach to student activities and programming that effectively meets the social, cultural, recreational and educational needs of the diverse student body.
Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director and Chief Diversity Officer to ensure suitable DEI activities, events and training to support College's DEI initiatives.
Assist in assessing and evaluating current programming and activities and identify and recommend new opportunities that will enhance student learning and engagement.
Assist in creating and enhancing collaborations with internal departments and external constituents to provide a student experience that is truly holistic, cocurricular, and engaging.
With direction from the Director of Student Engagement, assure compliance of assigned fiscal operations and performance contracts consistent with departmental and College policies and procedures.
Provide fiscal oversight and management of all clubs and organizations.
Re-design and implement new student programs including Welcome Week and other transition programs.
Assist in the coordination of, and actively participate in, major campus programming and signature events such as: Club/Activity Fairs, Spring Flings, Earth Day, Multicultural & Service Fairs, Commencement, and Orientations, etc. Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and colleagues to support other activities.
Assist with and develop program assessments.
Prepare content for presentations, publications, and websites. 16. Oversee the publication of the Weekly Wave and keep the OSE websites and social media up to date.
Serve as an active and contributing member of the Student Engagement team.
Support the learning and development of prospective and current students.
Assist with office operations and other activities as needed, and fulfilling other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, Equity & Social Justice
Requirements:
Minimal Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration, Marketing, Education Administration, or other field related to area of assignment; with five (5) years related experience involving area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of student recruitment, admissions and computer-based management.
Awareness of local and national trends in higher education around equity, access, and diversity.
Knowledge of theory and best practices regarding social justice initiatives and implementation.
Familiarity with student development and leadership programs.
Project management and facilitation skills, including ability to work within deadlines and to provide program reporting and assessment.
Advanced knowledge of technology as it relates to e-recruitment including Microsoft products particularly Excel and Access; Banner software, EAB Navigate and Hobsons Radius experience a plus.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and interpersonal connections with culturally diverse populations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Very strong presentation skills. Outstanding public relations and customer service skills.
Must have the ability to travel and work evenings and weekends for such events as Orientations, Open Houses, community engagements, graduation, etc.). A valid MA driver's license is required.
Must be positive, energetic, team-orientated, capable of motivating yourself, and require limited supervision.
Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, rapidly growing, intense, and multifunctional office environment.
Demonstrated success building relationships with school guidance counselors, teachers, parents, community agency representatives, four-year state institutions, and multi-ethnic populations.
Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds, including adult learners (Please address this qualification in your application materials).
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Community College experience preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish and English Preferred.
