The Opportunity
The Dean's Office within the CVM is seeking an Assistant to the Associate Dean for Education. In this role, you will provide essential support to the Associate Dean for Education, facilitate efficient workflows, and contribute to strategic initiatives that ensure the success of the College's educational programs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Liaison and Collaboration: Develop an in-depth understanding of the Associate Dean's responsibilities, policies, and goals. Foster a collaborative environment by serving as a liaison for faculty, staff, and external stakeholders on highly confidential matters. Demonstrate professionalism and discretion in all interactions.
- Administrative Support: Provide a wide range of advanced administrative, organizational, and technical support. Work closely with the Associate Dean for Education and the Educational Programs Manager to manage projects such as COE accreditation, curriculum governance, student programs, and strategic initiatives including curriculum improvement projects. Provide course support for 3 clinical foundation courses in the DVM curriculum.
- Schedule Coordination: Effectively manage complex and conflicting schedules, using your judgment to prioritize requests and optimize workflow. Proactively prepare, distribute agendas, and support meetings, including Zoom setup, space reservations, and catering arrangements.
- Data Management: Assist in gathering data and preparing reports and presentations for both internal and external audiences. Contribute to the development of strategic projects, such as curriculum redesign efforts, by collaborating with key committees and support units.
- Professional Atmosphere: Utilize your excellent service skills to create a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment. Demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and discretion in handling sensitive information and situations.

This is a full-time (39 hours/week) Contract College position that is based in Ithaca, NY and completely on-site. Work hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday and 8am-4pm on Fridays. There will be occasional evening hours to meet department needs.

- Hold an Associate's degree with at least four years of experience providing advanced administrative support, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Enjoy a work environment that will empower you to take initiative and use foresight and creativity to optimize the management of educational programs.
- Utilize a highly organized approach to managing projects and workstreams. Be comfortable using web applications and communications tools to coordinate complex tasks across a large team.
- Have a positive, optimistic outlook on your work and embraces opportunities to learn and grow professionally.
- Use superb organizational skills, with proven aptitude to successfully manage multiple assignments and conflicting priorities simultaneously.
- Be comfortable taking initiative with little guidance, and seeing projects to completion, interfacing with all levels of the college/university in a professional and goal-oriented manner.
- Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; aptitude to be proactive and to identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion.
- Be proficient with commercial computer software programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and project management platforms, with the aptitude to learn new software quickly.
