Under direct supervision, Administrative Support Assistants I's provide clerical support to administrative units and/or Academic Departments. Incumbents may perform reception duties, including filing of documents, answering telephones, typing forms, letters and memos, and performing other clerical duties as assigned. Typical duties include the following:
Incumbents will set own priorities regularly and manage multiple work priorities. Incumbents may help set priorities for others but are primarily accountable for own work results.
Incumbents will plan and coordinate clerical work activities and provide lead work direction and/or training and assistance to others in work processes and procedures.
Incumbents may perform assignments that are varied involving the regular use of judgment and discretion.
Incumbents may take courses of action, which are guided by some interpretation of policies and procedures.
Incumbents may develop creative solutions to a variety of problems addressed.
Incumbents may perform reception duties, including filing of documents, answering telephones, typing forms, letters, and memos, and performing other clerical duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or its equivalent AND one year of experience in general office clerical work or one year of training in a vocational school/college.
Required Qualifications:
If typing/keystroke skills are required, a keystroke speed of 50 C.W.P.M. is necessary.
General knowledge of office methods, procedures and practices, and a working knowledge of correct English, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Applicants must possess fundamental writing skills to effectively communicate standard information.
Applicants must possess the ability to use standard office equipment, along with the ability to use standard word processing and related computer software packages.
Applicants must possess the ability to perform basic arithmetic functions, along with the ability to respond to basic routine inquiries and explain standard policies and procedures to others.
Applicants must possess the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse campus community.
Compensation:
Classification: Administrative Support Assistant I
Compensation: The salary range for this classification is $3,338.00 to $ 4,097.00/month.
The hourly range for this classification is $19.26 to $23.64.
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position Information:
Work status: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary, Hourly, On-Call, Intermittent 'Non-exempt' positions.
Schedule: To be arranged by hiring department.

Conditions of Employment
Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Driver's License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
Mandated Reporter
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
