Vacancy Announcement for a Full-Time position within the Naval Postgraduate SchoolCenter for Infrastructure Defense.
The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Center for Infrastructure Defense (CID) invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position in the Operations Research (OR) Department as Faculty Associate - Research at the AD-1 or AD-3 level. The selected candidate will support the development and maintenance of web-based tools and applications for critical infrastructure vulnerability and resilience.
NPS CID has several active research projects that require ongoing web development and maintenance, including online databases, web-based interactive games, and web-based infrastructure analysis tools. Associated games and tools generally start as research products written in Python or R and are translated into web applications written in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, containerized and tested in Docker, and deployed on AWS or Azure Cloud. NPS CID is seeking a candidate with the ability to integrate into this pipeline to ensure games and tools are developed to support long-term research and training goals, deployed on time for research use, debugged and functioning during training and data collection activities, and maintained at regular intervals.
The NPS Center for Infrastructure Defense leads research that supports the continued operation of critical military and civilian infrastructure systems in the presence of failure, natural disaster, adversarial attack, and surprise. CID supports interdisciplinary senior scholars to work with highly motivated students and develop detailed analyses and implementation plans for lifeline infrastructure systems like electric power, fuel, water, transportation, telecommunications, and supply chains. CID scholars and alumni serve as trusted advisors to the military, government, and private sector on issues surrounding critical infrastructure protection and resilience.
