Team Profile
The Data & Analytics team works closely with MSIM's distribution & investment teams as well as related control and support departments to enhance, streamline and govern the flow of information as part of our ongoing relationships with our clients and our management of client assets. This is a critical activity to enable scalable growth of our business.
The main areas of focus for the team are:
1) Ensure we implement sound data governance & data quality control across our key datasets
2) Build & operate an enterprise data set that integrates all data from the division to be a single view of business activity that has answers to all questions
3) Drive scalability & enhance decision making leveraging data, analytics, AI
4) Deliver operational efficiencies / enhanced productivity with Generative AI
To be successful in the role, the candidate will be required to collaborate with and actively influence Sales, Marketing, Investment teams, Risk, Operations & Technology. The candidate will play a key role in building out analytics & AI based products that drive scalability and additional insights in the organization reporting to the Head of Data, Analytics & Digital Platform Strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
Based in New York, the Head of Data, Analytics & Digital platform strategy is looking for a resourceful, highly motivated & technical product manager who is a strong cross functional influencer and change driver with a passion for pushing the envelope in analytics driven enhanced decision making and streamlined operations for a large global asset management business. - Understand and build strong connections with our key business functions - Understand technical concepts around operational platforms, data flows and quality, document organization, machine learning, AI, APIs - Demonstrated application of Generative AI including unstructured data organization & annotation, large language model integration, retrieval augmented generation (RAG) applications - Source ideas and contribute art of the possible thinking to exploration of analytics, AI & Generative AI - Build business cases and drive prioritization to optimize across opportunity, cost & complexity as well as risks - Leverage resources from across the division & the firm to drive prototypes & hand back to functional teams post deployment from a process and technology perspective - Engage with the division and firm to continue to evolve our operating model for AI covering governance, risk management, etc.
S k ills re q uir e d â?¢ Bachelor's degree and experience of working in financial services. â?¢ 10+ years experience in business roles with strong gasp of how to use data, analytics, AI & Generative AI â?¢ Demonstrated track record of effective partnership with and translation between business teams & IT â?¢ Demonstrated understanding and application of technology concepts like operational platforms, data flows and quality, document organization, machine learning, AI, APIs â?¢ Experience with unstructured data organization & annotation, large language models, retrieval augmented generation in a business function context preferred â?¢ Appreciation of trade-offs when choosing between vendor solutions versus building in-house â?¢ Experience with agile execution models â?¢ Ability to manage projects across different teams and an ability to manage key stakeholders â?¢ Good understanding of financial services and ability to grasp key issues quickly, with a can do attitude to solving complex problems. â?¢ Excellent written and verbal communication skills (presentation experience strongly preferred). â?¢ Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure, strong ability to influence cross functionally. â?¢ Attention to detail, high level of initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to demonstrate good business judgment. â?¢ Ability to work effectively with professionals at all levels of Morgan Stanley and with external service providers. â?¢ A collaborative change driver with a sense of urgency and comfortable challenging the status quo. â?¢ Self-motivated, goal-oriented, fast learning, adaptable team player.
Wage Transparency Statement
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $175,000 - $300,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
