About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 10 TheRole: Principal Consultant, Agribusiness Consulting
The Team: You will be part of the APAC agribusiness consulting team, working from the Hong Kong office that covers both the commercial and public sectors. This newly created and diverse team works collaboratively with agribusiness consulting colleagues throughout the world as well as closely with other S&P Global teams in areas such as energy transition, bioenergy (feedstocks, biofuels, biomethane), chemicals, economics & country risks. We provide project-based economic and business consultancy work to companies and organizations working across the entire agribusiness and bioenergy value chains. Our team specializes in every aspect of food and agriculture across the whole value chain from agricultural inputs (fertilizer, crop protection, seed, machinery) to agricultural commodities (crops and livestock) and bioenergy, including policy and trade.
The Impact: This position will provide you with an opportunity to be at the forefront of our consulting research and analysis, working with our consulting experts from all over the world to consult on economic, business and policy issues in agribusiness, decarbonization and energy transition. Your contribution will help clients contribute to improvements in food production and security, to contribute to the sustainability and decarbonization agenda, and to develop new sources of clean energy supplies, as well as support our company-wide effort to develop new and unique intellectual property in this area.

Responsibilities: You will be a key member of the SPGCI Agribusiness Consulting team. You will play a significant role in all areas of our agribusiness, decarbonization and bioenergy consulting as well as having the opportunity to work and develop specific areas of interest. Key responsibilities include:
Apply your specific knowledge base to client projects
Work as part of a team of consultants on very large, highly complex projects; on smaller projects, work independently to execute and deliver the work
Work collaboratively across geographies within agribusiness consulting as well as other consulting groups within SPGCI
Be flexible in working on projects in other areas of agribusiness
What We're Looking For: From a research and/or consulting capacity you will also have:
Substantial agribusiness and/or bioenergy experience (acquired by working for industry, consulting, technology firms and/or government) in areas such as agricultural inputs (fertilizer, crop protection, seed, machinery), agricultural commodities (crops and livestock), bioenergy (feedstocks, biofuels, biomethane), decarbonization and sustainability, agricultural and bioenergy policy
Post-graduate degree (likely to be in agriculture, business or economics)
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills; English language required. Mandarin Chinese (intermediate or higher) an advantage.
Highly organized and creative skills, with accomplished time and project management
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and to navigate and excel in a complex, matrix organization
Ability to work within and on occasion lead and manage team
Ability to be front-facing with clients and create and develop leads and sales
Solid leadership skills and the ability to work independently without day-to-day direct authority
