The Systems Administrator position, part of the Learning Systems team, is critical in maintaining and supporting the university's academic technology infrastructure, with a focus on systems that enhance online teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will have experience managing and supporting learning management systems (LMS), web conferencing tools, and other integrated learning technologies. You will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure these systems are effectively used for instructional purposes and are fully integrated to support the university's mission in delivering high-quality education.
A Bachelor's Degree and one year of relevant work experience is required. A Master's Degree and three years of relevant work experience in academic technology systems is preferred.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
Provide system administration, user support, and management for academic technology systems related to the Learning Management System (LMS), web conferencing, video management, library, and other academic systems.
Manage technical tools, oversee user access, ensure security standards are met, and document processes, collaborating with Information Technology teams across campus to maintain smooth system operation.
Learn new technologies and tools quickly, and train users to help them effectively use instructional technology.
Support complex academic technology projects with broad university impact, applying best practices for integrating technology into curriculum and instruction.
Assist faculty and departments in integrating technology into courses and programs, providing technical expertise to enhance teaching and learning.
Troubleshoot complex issues in applications and provide technical guidance to users of varying technical proficiency levels.
Prioritize and manage a complex workload, using good judgment to deliver services in line with university goals.
Collaborate with library and IT staff to provide enhancements and ongoing maintenance of academic technology systems.
Assist in the creation, management, and organization of courses and content to promote effective teaching and learning experiences.
Serve as a liaison between IT, campus clients, and software vendors for issues related to instructional technology and other related projects and integrations.
Foster the adoption of digital learning tools by creating new resources, providing user support, and promoting these tools within the university community.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system operations, enhancements, and technical processes.
Maintain and recommend updates to academic technology policies, procedures, and support resources to ensure effective governance and usability of systems.
Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and instructional best practices to recommend new solutions for the university's academic systems to support teaching and learning.
Participate in and contribute to professional meetings, seminars, and training to enhance skills and knowledge related to academic technology, and to enhance departmental operations and job performance.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission

Preferred Requirements
Experience with multiple systems such as Canvas, Kaltura, Zoom, Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor, PlayPosit, Turnitin, WordPress, and other LTIs commonly used in higher education.
Experience in supporting technology integration into courses and co-curricular programs.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle complex academic technology projects with wide-reaching impact.
Experience with basic scripting/programming.
Expertise in change management and ability to lead new initiatives in academic technology systems.
Experience working in cross-functional teams that include media professionals, learning designers, and academic technologists.
