Budget Manager provides administrative support and oversees all business transactions for the Office of Student Involvement. Administers budgets for the department, 200+ student organizations and the Student Government Association (SGA). Monitors, reconciles, and reports on numerous budgets accounts. Advises the SGA Treasurer
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred. Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping practices required. Must have experience and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Prior experience using Banner Finance systems preferred. Experience working in a fast-paced office environment and able to prioritize multiple tasks and projects is essential. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with State of South Carolina budgetary systems and procurement policies and guidelines. Ability to create and update Excel spreadsheets for office accounting; ability to develop and monitor complex line-item budgets. Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Capable of providing high levels of customer service. Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Additional Comments Regarding Position
Experience working in higher education and/or with college populations helpful. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. Occasional out-of-state and overnight travel.

Coordinates a variety of complex business management and procurement activities for the Office of Student Involvement and over 200 student organizations. Responds to general inquiries. Meets with and responds to financial/budgetary inquiries from students regularly. Prepares administrative paperwork, transactions, and materials. Prepares &/or submits travel arrangements, invoices, reimbursements, deposits, and supplies orders. Coordinates with vendors for purchase, service & repair of office equipment. Works closely with student leaders, the Controller’s Office and Procurement to ensure adherence to College/State policies and procedures. Facilitates purchases of goods and services for student organizations. Serves as a liaison between student organizations, Procurement, and Accounts Payable for contracts. Processes and routes department contracts.

Assists the Executive Director of Student Involvement with developing annual departmental budgets and projecting revenues/expenditures for large-scale, campus-wide events sponsored by the Office of Student Involvement. Closely monitors, tracks, and reconciles internal budget ledgers, including accounts for over 200 student organizations. Works with the Office of Procurement, Controllers, and Budgeting & Finance Department to research and resolve posting errors. Serve as a budget and financial information resource for the department providing training and guidance, procedures and ensures compliance and implementation of college and Federal/State fiscal regulations, including FERPA.

Assists with preparation of SGA annual & semester budget reports and assists with the coordination of budget workshops. Assists the Associate Director for Student Involvement in updating The Compass yearly.
