The College of Information and Communications at the University of South Carolina is seeking applicants for a Director of Graduate Recruitment. Job Purpose: The Director of Graduate Recruitment will direct the recruitment for the graduate programs within the College of Information and Communications (CIC). This includes creating a recruitment strategy to meet the schools’ enrollment goals.

The College of Information and Communications is home to two nationally recognized schools, the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and the School of Information Science. The college provides outstanding teaching, research, and community outreach. As such, it is one of only a few universities to combine its communications and information science programs, two rapidly evolving — and converging — fields united by a shared belief that information accessibility is the cornerstone of self-governance. The College has approximately 1,800 undergraduates, 500 graduate students, and more than 100 faculty and staff members. New assets available to faculty and students in both schools include The Social Media Insights Lab and the Biometric and User Experience Lab. Ability to travel required 10-25% including out of town and overnight; some night and weekend work may be required
Job Duties:
Create Effective Messaging:
Develop program specific strategy and messaging for target markets
Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure accuracy and consistency of messaging
Ensure that all website content related to programs is updated and accurate
Collaborate with communications team to create social media content and collateral
Adjust strategy as needed to meet the needs of the market
Establish Enrollment Goals:
Assist leadership team in establishing enrollment goals by program
Provide feedback to leadership on progress toward goals
Identify Target Markets:
Understand graduate student market and characteristics of prospective students
Work with graduate directors and college leadership to understand graduate degree offerings, value, and employment opportunities
Diversify recruitment efforts to achieve representative population
Plan and Execute Recruiting Events:
Identify relevant events and groups to include career fairs, student organizations, and conferences
Create engaging and informative presentations for prospective students
Professionally represent graduate programs at on-campus, external, and online events
Provide creative and cost-effective ideas to increase innovation in recruitment strategies
Conduct post event follow-up with prospective students and stakeholders
Contact interested students to provide information and create additional touch points
