The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Payroll Analystin our Payroll Department within the Business Office. The Payroll Analyst oversees the way we compensate employees and ensures all payments are accurate and on time. This includes reviewing payroll data and documents for inefficiencies and errors, checking whether all amounts are accurate based on hours worked and ensuring payments are made on times.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Reviews timesheets and attendance records for accuracy and promptly corrects discrepancies;
Computes employee wages and deductions with precision;
Conducts thorough reviews of computed wages to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements;
Issues and distributes paychecks;
Reviews and verifies payroll information for promotions, transfers, terminations, and new hires;
Records and maintains employee records and payroll transactions;
Prepares statements reflecting earnings, taxes, and deductions;
Prepares and submits all necessary paperwork for tax deductions, benefits and garnishments;
Answers questions and resolves issues regarding payroll;
Conducts regular audits on payroll procedures and records to maintain accuracy and compliance;
Ensures compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws;
Prepares detailed payroll reports for management and auditing purposes;
Designs, documents and implements procedures to optimize and streamline payroll processes;
Manages payment calendars for the fiscal year;
Reports to management on payroll issues, changes, and potential improvement;
Initiates research for better ways to improve processes and efficiencies through software or other means;
Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling payroll information;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree and four (4) years' finance/business/payroll or related experience OR Bachelor's degree and two (2) years' finance/business/payroll or related experience OR Master's degree
Experience working with spreadsheets, word processing, and email
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Outstanding organizational, and time management skills to meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or related field
Payroll experience in higher education
Proficiency in Excel with experience using advanced formulas, functions, and data analysis tools for payroll processing and reporting
Familiarity with federal and state payroll regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements
Experience in Microsoft Office, payroll systems, and database software
