Job Title: Director of Teaching and Learning with Technology

The Director of Teaching and Learning with Technology will support the mission and vision of University Liggett School through positive interactions with students and faculty. Specifically, it is the director’s responsibility to ensure that the school’s core values, mission, vision, and strategic plan are the center of all decisions and actions related to the implementation of educational technology. The Director of Teaching and Learning with Technology will support an atmosphere of trust and openness among employees, students, and parents and will support an atmosphere that fosters the intellectual, social, physical, behavioral, and emotional growth of each student. The director will serve on the school’s Academic Leadership Team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inspire, model, and integrate technology use (including Makerspace resources) and promote opportunities that support faculty and students in teaching and learning according to the Liggett Approach to education.
Develop, implement, and maintain an EC-12 technology literacy curriculum, including a detailed scope and sequence.
Teach 1-2 courses, including a sixth-grade innovation and design course.
Research and promote opportunities to further develop STEM programming and advance the Liggett Approach in STEM fields.
Design, promote, and facilitate professional development initiatives across all divisions for faculty and staff that enhance instruction and teach technical skills with all available school resources.
Collaborate with the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning to ensure that technology integration aligns with the school’s mission, core values, and the Liggett Approach.
Provide training for students, faculty, and administration to use hardware or software in one-on-one or group settings, including the Google Apps for Education suite.
Develop and maintain training materials for commonly used technologies and processes for faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Collaborate with the Information Technology Department on the upkeep and management of school technology resources, including the Makerspace.
Work with the Information Technology Department to test, troubleshoot, and support software, hardware, and administration of classroom technology, including teacher requests as appropriate.
Plan and oversee budget expenditures including reallocating resources as appropriate.
Collaborate with members of the ULS community to advance educational technology through classroom visits, one-on-one and group meetings, professional learning presentations and workshops, and other means as appropriate.
Collaborate with the Assistant Head of School for Teaching and Learning on additional initiatives designed to advance teaching and learning across the divisions.
Attend and participate in Academic Leadership Team meetings and initiatives.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or higher in education, educational technology, or an equivalent field
Extensive classroom experience, including facility with student-centered and experiential learning
Possess knowledge of a variety of technology tools, from classic to emerging technologies
Enthusiasm for working with students and an understanding of their developmental needs
A thoughtful and engaging approach to teaching, learning, and assessment
A desire to learn about and inform faculty of emerging technologies and teaching practices; experience with educational AI is preferred
A keen desire to work in a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centered environment
Ability to connect with students and faculty of diverse backgrounds to develop healthy, supportive, and responsive relationships
Strong writer, reader, and speaker, including a proven ability to communicate effectively with various audiences
Eagerness to work toward professional goals and an enthusiasm for continued professional growth
Eager willingness to support and to be present in the life of the school

10.5 month employee/ 7:45 am - 4:15 pm
