Job Description:
Human Resources is looking for a skilled and reliable HR Assistant to manage our onboarding entry processes efficiently and accurately, provide assistance to people that come to HR with questions, and assist the CHRO with tasks. As a HR Assistant, you will be responsible for entering new hires, rehires, and adjustments to current employee records in our HRIS system in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your attention to detail and ability to work with sensitive information will be critical to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll activities.

Salary: The salary range for this position is: $55,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience.
Essential job duties:
Assist visitors to the HR office with their questions or connect them with the employee that can help.
Enter hires, rehires, and other employment changes into the HRIS system.
Maintain accurate employment records by filing hard copy as well as electronic copies.
Assist CHRO with scheduling meetings, and other projects as needed.
Manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and under pressure with a high degree of accuracy.
Demonstrates the highest level of customer service skills when addressing employee questions, concerns, and successfully reconciles employee inquiries.
Collaborates with the Payroll team to resolve payroll discrepancies or issues.
Communicates and responds to inquiries from employees and other individuals relative to the status and process of onboarding new employee related information.
Assist with various administrative projects as required.
Performs other duties consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position as assigned, as may be required, and as may be requested by the CHRO or their designee.
Manage administrative invoices and payments.
Provides support for events HR puts on for staff and faculty.
Provide backup support for searches as needed.
Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
Requirements:
Associates degree with one to three (1-3) years' experience preferably in an office setting and in a position responsible for payroll processes and entering employee transactions
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, handle and follow through on competing assignments, and meet deadlines.
Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office applications.
Must have flexibility with changing work conditions and assignments.
Must possess excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proven experience and skills to quickly learn new systems and applications.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
High level of customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual: ability to speak, write and read another language
Prior human resources professional experience in higher education
Proficiency with HR/CMS is highly preferred
Skills:
Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment with confidential/sensitive material and information.
Ability to collaborate in a team-based environment and interact effectively.
Ability to function independently in a role that often requires multi-tasking of duties.
Team player and a sense of humor is a must
Working Conditions:
The HR Assistant must be able to sit for long periods of time, perform computer work for long periods of time, use the telephone frequently, and be able to communicate with other agency personnel, vendors, and state agencies.
