Job Description:
The Regional Director of Development, located in Los Angeles, California, holds the responsibility of securing donations of $100,000 or more from prospects from across the Southwest including Southern California, Arizona, and Las Vegas. This position involves working closely with the Assistant Vice President for Regional Programs and other staff at the LA Dick Clark programs, while reporting to the Executive Director of Regional Advancement. Key responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, and soliciting both new and existing donors, especially those capable of making significant contributions but including gifts from across the spectrum from leadership annual gifts to the principal gift level. Additionally, the Director will support and facilitate the work of the LA Regional Council, which is comprised of university ambassadors whose primary objective is to identify, cultivate, and engage key donors and prospects to assist the University in serving its students. This role requires extensive travel throughout the Southwest region to engage with alumni, parents, and donors, and requires collaboration with campus colleagues to align donor interests with funding priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors from across the Southwest with an emphasis on gifts of $100,000 or more but including gifts across a wide spectrum from leadership annual giving ($2,500+) to principal gift level ($2.5M). Manage a portfolio of approximately 100 donors and prospects and achieve solicitation, close and visits consistent with annually established goals and assignments.
• Develop, implement, and drive fundraising strategies designed to maximize current giving potential for each individual prospect in the assigned portfolio as well as other prospects in the region by creating support and facilitating cooperation throughout the campus community in pursuit of the best strategy for each donor.
• Work collaboratively with College-based and central AEA offices, including Advancement Services, Research & Prospect Systems, Alumni Engagement, Annual Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Principal Gifts, and Communications. Develop and maintain relationships with faculty, administrators, and staff volunteers associated with specific programs relevant to assigned prospects.
• Ensure accurate record keeping in the University CRM (Citrus) including documenting plans and solicitations, interactions, proposals, and gifts. Regularly monitor dashboard reports to ensure progress toward goals. Pull reports, working with our colleagues in research as needed, to regularly mine the database for new prospects with capacity. Report results of all major gifts efforts to the Executive Director and produce visit calendar.
• Help build a stronger SU presence in Southern California and, as part of that goal, facilitate the work of the LA Regional Council, helping build a more robust philanthropic pipeline, develop alumni and parent volunteer leadership, and promote a stronger University presence in the region.
