The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is seeking several faculty members (open rank) to join our Department to complement our current strengths and enhance our research mission. We seek to hire faculty members to expand our departmental mission in computational psychiatry research. Our ideal candidates are clinically- or mechanistically- oriented researcher(s) whose research program focuses on understanding ways to use statistical and or computational approaches in ONE OR MORE of the following areas: (1) to better understand root causes (mechanisms) of mental health conditions, (2) to develop and evaluate tools for more accurate and rapid diagnosis, (3) to evaluate and implement statistical knowledge to enhance knowledge of mental health diseases and care, and/or (4) to evaluate the effectiveness of mental health treatments using diverse clinical trial designs. Interested individuals may also have prior interest and experience in quality improvement and/or evaluation projects. The candidate(s) must have a strong record of external research funding (and/or strong evidence of interest and capability in pursuing such funding and work) and expertise in developing, leading or substantially contributing to education and research programs concerning computational psychiatry.
Faculty will join a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and scientists in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and be co-located with a growing group of physicians, psychologists, and scientists aligned in the goals mentioned above across psychosis, suicide, trauma, depression, addiction, and anxiety. Individuals in these positions are expected to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits.
Current federal funding and research experience suggesting capability to attain consistent extramural funding is required.
Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.
Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.
Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
