The Space Systems Academic Group (SSAG) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites applications for the position of non tenure-track lecturer with a strong background in aerospace engineering and space systems operations.
This position will be part-time (20 hours per week) based at the NPS campus in Monterey, CA. We are seeking candidates with expertise in space systems integration, test and evaluation, and operations, particularly with national technical means (NTM) systems. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing and teaching assigned courses, assisting in the management and governance of the SSAG curricula by performing academic service, guiding student theses, and providing academic advice and service to Navy, DoD, and aerospace community at large. The successful candidate is expected to learn about the current SSAG academic program with the objective of developing and leading current and future research.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Aerospace / Astronautical Engineering, or equivalent.
Master’s degree in Space Systems Engineering or Operations, or equivalent.
At least five years of experience in mission operations, mission planning, and space operations with DoD, civil, commercial, or national space systems.
At least three years of experience in test and evaluation of space systems.
Eligibility for a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
Highly desired qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in effective communication in a training or education environment.
Demonstrated teaching aptitude at the master’s level.
Demonstrated strength in analytical and problem-solving skills.
High-level work with the DoD or intelligence community (IC) space communities.
Active TS/SCI clearance.
The SSAG is an interdisciplinary academic association providing direction and guidance for the Space Systems Engineering and Space Systems Operations curricula. The SSAG performs applied, space-related research in support of our education curricula and research interests. A major goal of the SSAG is to couple NPS space research efforts with the graduate education of military officers.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants with foreign education will be required to select from a list of private organizations that are members of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES), which provide foreign education evaluations acceptable to NPS.
Must currently hold or be eligible for a Top-Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Position is designated as a drug testing position to maintain a Top-Secret Clearance.
Although this position is not full-time telework eligible, it is eligible for situational telework.
