The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time STEP Coordinator in our College Pipeline Programs department. The STEP Coordinator provides daily oversight of MVCC's Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP).
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Oversees all activities as outlined in the STEP project;
Tracks and processes STEP budget transactions including but not limited to purchases and transfers;
Prepares promotional materials and maintains an updated web presence;
Chairs the STEP Advisory Board;
Recruits students for the STEP projects and programs, e.g. summer intensive, by working with high school guidance counselors;
Serves as a liaison between STEP and academic departments at MVCC and area high schools;
Develops relationships and networks with other STEP projects, school opportunity programs, STEM, health and license professional community organizations;
Researches and develops student internships, and services learning opportunities with local businesses/employers;
Assists students individually or in groups as appropriate;
Reviews STEP goals and objectives to ensure all requirements and priorities are met;
Coordinates meetings with School Liaisons to work on retention plans for STEP students;
Provides guidance to STEP staff and STEP School Liaisons to develop, create and host workshops and presentations;
Meets with STEP staff and STEP School Liaisons to assess and monitor student needs and progress;
Maintains accurate budget records and student files for reporting purposes;
Compiles and analyzes data and prepares reports, including those required by New York State Department of Education Office;
Coordinates informational sessions to create awareness of STEP; and collaborates with program stakeholders to host events;
Performs other duties related to the job description and as assigned by the Director of College Pipeline Programs.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field
One (1) year experience in program administration/management or grant administration, and financial management
Ability to work with diverse student groups
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in education or related field
