The Opportunity:

As the Assistant Farm Manager you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Prosser Farm, over 550 acres. You will work independently to manage staffing and work requests, and work with the Farm Manager and Business Operations Manager to monitor, track and set annual budgets and cost recovery for Prosser Farm. You will manage, monitor and coordinate the activities of the work crew and engage in all facets of crop production and research, as directed by the Farm Manager. In addition, you are responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of employee assigned work. You will develop, implement and enforce safety and maintenance programs and will learn and provide support for the Farm Manager with all record-keeping responsibilities.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $4,299 to $5,783 | Range 49 Steps A-M | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

• Four years experience in game farm operation or three years experience in a creamery or dairy processing work, at least one year must include lead or supervisory experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
  
• A combination of education/experience totaling 4 years or more will be accepted in place of game farm operations or creamery/dairy experience.
  
• Must be able to obtain a public operator pesticide applicators license with required endorsements within 3-months of employment.
  
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
  
• Experience with basic equipment maintenance and repairs.
  
• Experience operating heavy equipment.
  
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  
• Able to use common computer applications, such as internet, email, Word, Excel, timekeeping systems, etc.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associates Degree in a related field.
  
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
  
• Experience with pesticide application.
  
• Fiscal record keeping experience and budget monitoring.
  
• Experience working in a research farm.
