The Opportunity: We are looking for an Assistant Director of Scholarships & Other Financial Assistance to join our dynamic team at WSU Student Financial Services. As the Assistant Director of Scholarships & Other Financial Assistance, you will guide our students in understanding and securing financial aid options to support their education and future. Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of student support? As the Assistant Director for Scholarships & OFA, you will play a pivotal role in managing scholarship and financial aid awarding processes. You'll supervise a dedicated team, oversee daily operations, solve complex challenges, and ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Your expertise will help drive data verification, operational improvements, and programming enhancements.
In this role, you'll be the go-to expert for all things related to Student Financial Services (SFS) scholarships and OFA administration. You'll build strong partnerships across campus, collaborate with departments, and represent SFS on internal and external committees-making a real impact on how we serve our students.
You'll also take the lead in overseeing athletic aid processing and managing the SFS advisors who specialize in scholarships. Your leadership will ensure that financial aid and scholarship programs are packaged and awarded efficiently and equitably.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be based on final placement within the salary range.
Monthly Salary:$4,942.00 - $7,567.00 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.
Tangible and demonstrated experience in enrollment management or student services programs, including a working knowledge of and experience in the development, maintenance and/or implementation of automated financial aid
processes as part of an integrated student information system.
Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies and procedures.
Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Office programs, such as: Outlook, Word, Excel and Access.
Demonstrated, first-hand experience in customer service and familiarity with working with diverse populations.
Developed effective interpersonal skills in all areas of written and verbal communication, including background with small and large group presentations.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends/evenings.
Exceptional problem-solving, project management, decision-making, and visionary skills.
Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in a relevant field.
Experience working in a financial aid operation in higher education.
Experience in strategic planning, formulation, design, implementation and tracking.
Oral and written fluency in the English and Spanish languages. Experience creating/auditing administrative procedures and internal controls.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team.
