Summary of Duties:
As the Assistant Finance Director (AFD) in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS), you will be a of member of the college's finance leadership team, reporting directly to the Director. In this role, you are responsible for assisting with the overall financial management and administrative functions of a large complex college with 3 separate mission areas, Academic Programs (03), Research (30), and Extension (41) with $200 Million in expenditures annually and only $50 Million in permanent funding. You will financially support Research for all area budget, financial management and reporting including best management practices and consultive support, research capacity funds, royalties, F&A, fiscal notes, annual Budget Office considerations (allocations), provisos and all other research functions. The AFD is a 'point of contact' (POC) for a block of units/cost centers generally (majority) aligned to Research.
In this position, you will use significant independent judgment including, but not limited to, overseeing accounting, budget (allocations), and finance including one time and reoccurring funding snap shots & projections, temporary & permanent commitments, assist in department process improvement, training, developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure university, state and federal compliance and oversees or serves as an administrative liaison to college departments and relevant university business offices.

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement.
Monthly Salary: $5,485.73 - $8,402.20 | Zone 1, Grade 7
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least one (1) year of managerial experience. A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment. Positions may require applicable licensure and/or certification.
An additional six (6) years of progressively responsible experience for a total of ten (10) years of experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with financial, administrative systems, or similar systems.
Proficient Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Land-grant university experience.
Grant management experience.
Workday experience.
Sound knowledge of WSU Business Policies & Procedures.
This position is located on the WSU Pullman campus, but may be eligible for a hybrid/remote work arrangement.
