The Opportunity:
This position will lead efforts to streamline, enhance, and expand outreach and engagement operations across the College to maximize community impact. The Manager will leverage experience in program coordination, education, and community engagement to develop and support initiatives that align with institutional goals. They will help define the budget allocated for these activities, guide budget priorities, and potentially oversee a service center component that generates revenue through outreach aligned with external requests.
Key components of this position include developing a comprehensive understanding of current activities, personnel capacities, and institutional goals, as well as responding to outreach requests. The manager may also support Competence-Based Veterinary Education (CBVE) by assisting with the identification and implementation of educational outreach efforts that align with CBVE principles. The position requires experience generating and leading novel outreach opportunities and cultivating relationships with diverse stakeholders.
The Manager will work closely with the Director of Strategic Initiatives to ensure alignment between outreach activities and the College's strategic priorities. Outreach and engagement are core to the CVM's mission and fulfill the civic duties of a land grant institution. This position will help to build a more cohesive, efficient, and visible outreach profile by creating a hub for community engagement.
Occasional travel, evening, and weekend work may be required. Some schedule flexibility is available and will be discussed with the finalist.

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
$4,508.70 - $6,763.06 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range (Zone 1, Grade 5) for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
History of developing relationships across diverse stakeholders (e.g., 4H/FFA, K-12 schools, local service organizations, tribal leadership, community organizations).
Excellent communication skills.
Comfortable with public engagement and enthusiastic about contributing to outreach strategy and execution.
Demonstrated experience in program development, event coordination, and volunteer management.
Demonstrated leadership in community engagement and collaborative work with diverse populations.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in managing and coordinating specialty programs.
Experience in budget management and financial oversight of programs, including developing and managing program budgets.
Experience collecting, evaluating, and interpreting data.
Ability to keep accurate records and complete timely reports.
Strong organizational skills.
Experience training, mentoring, and supervising students, volunteers, or staff.
Demonstrated ability to work on institutional committees and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Familiarity with computer applications such as email, databases, spreadsheet applications, and word processing programs.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends, to travel.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Master's degree in biological sciences, veterinary sciences, or related field demonstrating advanced specialized knowledge.
Five or more years of experience in program coordination, administration, or management.
Experience as an Education and Training Specialist or similar role in higher education.
Knowledge of or experience with Veterinary Medicine.
Experience developing and implementing educational programs for K-12 and higher education audiences.
Background in laboratory management or scientific research demonstrating technical expertise.
Experience serving on institutional committees related to outreach, diversity, equity, and inclusion, or community engagement.
Familiarity with database applications for tracking programs and outcomes.
Experience generating and leading novel outreach opportunities.
Mental Health First Aid or similar certification.
Experience with digital and email marketing tools, volunteer management software, and social media for program management and communications.
