Position Details:
The Opportunity:
As the Scientific Assistant, you will perform laboratory research, including designing research approaches and identifying and defining research problems related to agronomics and end-use quality of wheat. You will collect, analyze, and interpret research data, ensure quality control, and make improvements to techniques and interpretations. You will assist in preparing journal publications and progress reports, manage and maintain daily laboratory operations, conduct general laboratory maintenance and routine care of scientific instrumentation, order supplies, keep inventory records, and maintain a safe working environment.

This is a full-time (100% FTE),temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.
This is a temporary position that is renewed on an annual basis. Appointment renewal is dependent continued funding and project needs.
Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - $5,397.56 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in an agricultural science or closely related field.
