The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life provides leadership and support to our community of 28 fraternity and sorority organizations across four councils: the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, Interfraternity Council, and Panhellenic Council. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Live strives to create a community where our organizations and their members are living in alignment with their values, building belonging, cultivating a community of care, and supporting individual student success.
The Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life supports and promotes student success through academic excellence, leadership development, community service, member development, and risk management; advises student organizations; and collaborates to develop and implement council and community wide programming. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.
The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate a commitment to the fraternity and sorority community, strong leadership and communication skills, experience cultivating robust and high performing student organizations, the ability to collaborate with campus partners to support student success and a sense of belonging.
Responsibilities include:
Advise two Governing Councils and their member organizations
Collaborate with the council executive board to oversee expenditures and advise groups on appropriate budgeting activities for and sponsored programs and events
Serve as the staff advisor to assigned fraternities and sororities including event management, chapter operations, programming, leadership development and risk management
Conduct meetings with chapter leadership, national representatives, and local advisors visiting campus
Supervise the recruitment processes for assigned Governing Council and individual chapter intake programs
Oversee assigned council Expansion Committee, assist with new chapter recognition process, and support through the first two years chapter establishment
Coordinate departmental diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging efforts across all councils and support development of identity specific programming and initiatives
Coordinate departmental philanthropy and service collaborations and initiatives
Coordinate leadership development programs
Support risk management and legal liability for fraternal organizations
Supervise Graduate Assistant(s)
Support departmental strategic priorities and co-curricular approach initiatives
Support chapters to navigate University Student Conduct process
Support activities and programs such as First Year and Transfer Orientation, New Student Programs, Homecoming, and other traditions
Serve on university and divisional committees
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's Degree
Fraternity and Sorority advising experience
Master's Degree in Higher Education or similar field
Two or more years of advising experience with fraternity and sorority life
Experience managing fraternity and sorority events
