Job Description:
The Sport Analyst will be enhancing our recruiting, scouting, and player development efforts through advanced data analytics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data analysis, sports analytics, and a passion for basketball.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in data science, Statistics, Sports Management, or a related field.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., R, Python, SQL) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong understanding of basketball analytics, including player performance metrics and advanced scouting techniques.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, players, and other stakeholders.
- Passion for basketball and a deep understanding of the games strategies and dynamics.
Responsibilities:
Data Analysis for Recruiting:
- Collect and analyze data on potential recruits from various sources.
- Develop statistical models to evaluate and predict player performance and potential.
- Provide detailed reports and insights to coaching staff for informed recruiting decisions.
Scouting Analytics:
- Analyze game footage and statistical data to assess opponent strategies and player performance.
- Create scouting reports highlighting strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of opposing teams and players.
- Utilize advanced analytics to support game preparation and strategy development.
Create data strategy:
- Design and implement a comprehensive data analytics roadmap aligned with Mens Basketball strategic goals.
- Establish data governance standards, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and security across all analytics initiatives.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics for recruiting, scouting, and player development analytics.
- Stay abreast of emerging analytics technologies and recommend tools or processes to innovate our programs data capabilities.
Player Development Analytics:
- Track and analyze individual player performance metrics (nutrition, performance and health).
- Provide data-driven insights to support player development programs.
- Develop customized performance dashboards and reports for coaching staff and players.
- Collaborate with coaching and training staff to implement data-driven training and development plans.
- Other duties as assigned.
