The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Technical Assistant in our School of STEM-Career. The Technical Assistant - STEM-Career provides skilled assistance to faculty, professional, or administrative staff of the School of STEM-Career in industrial, research, public service or other educationally related programs or projects. The work is performed under general supervision.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Assists the STEM-Career instructors in the conduct of laboratory sessions, laboratory and classroom demonstrations, and in the preparation of materials for instructional use.
Assists in the instruction and supervision of STEM-Career students in the use and care of specialized equipment and supplies.
Supervises student employees.
Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment necessary for specific experiments or demonstrations and distributes supplies to students and faculty.
Ensures clean and orderly laboratory sites.
Maintains and catalogs all instructions and documents for laboratory equipment.
Responsible for recording inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment using College acceptable software.
Orders supplies, materials, and equipment or recommends such items for order as directed by Dean of STEM-Career.
Tests, repairs, cleans, and stores equipment.
Maintains equipment in engineering technology laboratories consistent with ABET accreditation standards.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of STEM-Career.
Work schedule for this position: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Hours per week: 35
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree (or at least 60 credit hours completed) in Engineering Technology, Metal Fabrication, or related STEM field
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the field of specialization (Engineering Technology or Metal Fabrication)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
