POSITION/ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Advancement Services, the Advancement Data Analyst is a member of the Advancement Information Systems Administration unit within the Advancement Operations team and is responsible for the creation, analysis, and continuous enhancement of reporting, including proactive insights that support Development and Alumni Engagement fundraising efforts. This role leverages Salesforce as the primary CRM and system of record, with all other integrated and related systems supporting and aligning to it, to deliver actionable data, inform strategy, and support decision-making across the division.

CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the design, development, and delivery of reporting and dashboards using SQL Server and Tableau, ensuring alignment with Salesforce as the system of record and overall advancement data architecture.
Develop, manage, and execute reporting solutions that adhere to established data governance standards, ensuring consistency with how data is structured, captured, and maintained within Salesforce and integrated systems.
Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and model data from enterprise data sources, ensuring accuracy, performance, and alignment with defined business logic.
Translate advancement business needs into scalable reporting solutions that support fundraising strategy, including moves management, pipeline development, and engagement tracking.
Produce proactive, forward-looking analyses that identify trends in donor behavior, engagement, and revenue, and deliver actionable insights to inform Development and Alumni Engagement strategy, including opportunities to enhance engagement, optimize portfolios, and drive revenue growth.
Ensure all reporting outputs reflect standardized definitions (e.g., prospect stages, relationship management, gift crediting) as governed by Salesforce data architecture and advancement operations policies.
Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards that provide clear, accessible, and actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including data definitions, reporting logic, data flows, and dependencies across Salesforce and integrated platforms.
Partner with other team members within Advancement Operations, IT, and external partners/consultants to ensure reporting solutions align with enterprise systems, integrations, and long-term data strategy.
Collaborate closely with the Advancement Salesforce Administrator(s) to ensure all reporting aligns with system design, data architecture, and established business rules, incorporating guidance to maintain consistency and integrity across all outputs.
Transition reporting into Salesforce environments to increase accessibility, usability, and adoption of data and insights directly within the CRM platform.
Adhere to Salesforce-driven data governance standards, ensuring reporting logic reflects how data is captured, structured, and maintained within the CRM and its integrated systems.
Allocate dedicated time to validate, reconcile, and review reports for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, ensuring all outputs meet defined data quality standards before distribution.
Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on reporting tools, data interpretation, and best practices, reinforcing proper use of Salesforce data and reporting outputs.
Lead reporting projects from concept through delivery, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
Collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to ensure reporting solutions meet organizational needs while maintaining architectural integrity.
Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes, automation, and scalability to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Participate in project team meetings and communicate effectively with peers, architects, business analysts, project managers, and business stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelorâ™s degree in business administration or closely related field.
5+ years of work experience in the data management field with full understanding and practice of the reporting analytics from design to implementation. Experience at a higher education, not-for-profit, multicultural and/or global organization is a plus.
3+ years of hands-on experience in development and administration of Tableau, Python, SQL, SOQL & JavaScript is desirable.
Ability to gather and document technical requirements and use them to develop analytics.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills. Ability to articulate and translate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Must show initiative, self-motivation, desire to innovate, and attention to detail and quality.
WORK MODE
This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement.
Hybrid work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the nature of the role and operational needs. Any such arrangement must be discussed and approved in advance by the appropriate division lead or their designee. #LI-ONSITE
SALARY RANGE
$80,000 - $90,000 per annum
