The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Technical Assistant - Life and Physical Sciencesin our School of STEM-Transfer. The Technical Assistant - Life and Physical Sciences provides skilled assistance to faculty, professional, or administrative staff in Life and Physical Sciences or other educationally related programs or projects. The work is performed under general supervision.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Assists the instructor in the conduct of laboratory sessions, laboratory and classroom demonstrations, and in the preparation of materials for instructional use.
Assists in the instruction and supervision of students in the use and care of specialized equipment and supplies.
Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment necessary for specific experiments or demonstrations. Distributes supplies to students and faculty.
Orders supplies, materials, and equipment or recommends such items for order as directed by supervisor.
Tests, repairs, cleans, and stores equipment and maintains laboratory or technical facilities.
Performs other duties as related to this job description and as assigned by the Dean of STEM- Transfer.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Hours per week: 35
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree (or at least 60 credit hours completed) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics related discipline
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the field of specialization (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology)
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics related discipline
